Collection: Conference Tables

Conference tables are bought by seat count and fitted by room size, and those two numbers do not always agree. Work out both before choosing.

Seats and sizes

As a rule of thumb: a 6 foot table seats six, 8 foot seats eight, 10 foot seats ten and 12 foot seats twelve. Depths run 36" on the smaller tables up to 48" on the largest.

Allow at least three feet of clear floor on every side so chairs can be pushed back and people can walk behind a seated colleague. A 10 foot table needs a room around 18 feet long, not 11.

Shapes

Racetrack tops have rounded ends, so people sitting at the corners can see each other without leaning forward. Boat shaped tops widen at the centre, which opens sightlines down the length of the table and matters most on the longer sizes. Rectangular is the most space-efficient for a narrow room. Round tables seat three to five and suit short discussions where nobody should be at the head of the table.

Growing rooms

Several of our rectangular tables take a 4 foot extension in the centre. If headcount is likely to rise, buying a table that extends is cheaper than replacing one that does not.

Power and cable management

Most tables here are wire management ready, with grommets and aluminum covers in the surface so power and data can be run up through the base rather than trailed across the floor. Worth specifying at the point of order.
