Collection: Modern Office Desks

Sixty-eight desks, from a 48" single pedestal for a spare room to a U-shaped executive suite that furnishes a private office on its own. The choice comes down to three questions.

Shape

A rectangular desk is one surface, 48" to 72" wide, and it suits a room where the desk sits against a wall. An L-shaped desk adds a return at right angles, giving a second surface for paperwork or a second monitor, and typically occupies 66"W x 72"D or 71"W x 84"D overall. A U-shaped desk adds a credenza behind, putting work surface on three sides with everything reachable from one chair, and needs roughly 72"W x 104"D.

The overall footprint matters more than the desk width. Measure the space before choosing by the headline size.

Drawers

Pedestal configurations run from a single box and file up to box, box, file on one side and file, file on the other. File drawers take letter and legal. If the desk is also replacing a filing cabinet, specify the fuller configuration now rather than adding a cabinet later.

Full-height pedestals reach the floor. Suspended pedestals stop short, leaving the floor clear so a chair mat runs unbroken and cleaning is easier. Same capacity, different look.

Sitting or standing

Height adjustable desks raise and lower on an electric base with programmable presets, so one desk serves whoever is at it. Worth specifying where a desk is shared across shifts or where sit-stand working is being rolled out rather than offered to individuals.

Finishes

Espresso and mahogany read traditional. Grey wood grain and white read contemporary and keep a room feeling lighter. Glass tops on aluminum trim sit above the laminate and lift an executive office. Finish availability varies by range, so check the individual product.
